|Each year on the 19th of February Darwin Chorale takes part in the Bombing of Darwin commemorative service at the Darwin Cenotaph. As usual a number of our members sang with the Australian Army Band Darwin for this years 76th service. The choir sand through the wreath laying ceremony and Fiona Wake, chorale member, was again asked to sing the Dorothea Mackeller favourute 'My Country' and lead the audience in singing the Australian Anthem.
Even though the 75th anniversary in 2017 was a large scale national event, this year the commemoration still attracted many hundreds of people. Numerous schools, political parties and other organisations were represented. Luke Gosling OAM MP federal member for Solomon, a great supporter of the chorale, was present along with other dignitaries including the Chorale's Patron, Her Honour the Honourable Vicki O’Halloran AM Administrator of the Northern Territory, the Hon. Michael McCormack MP the Federal Minister for Veterans' Affairs, the Hon Warren Snowden MP for Lingiari, and the Hon Michael Gunner, Chief Minister of the Northern Territory. Mr Gerry Wood MLA and The Right Reverend Dr. Greg Anderson Bishop of the Diocese of the Northern Territory, both previous and current members of the choir, were also present and our thanks to them both for taking some photos for us on the day to record our particpation.
And thank you to all members who gave up their time to rehearse and participate in this important event.
